A full lineup of food and craft vendors was on hand. Kids enjoyed seeing afternoon shows, such as Performing Dogs, and visiting the midway. Saturday was a full festival day with music starting at 11am and continuing all afternoon and evening. They play classic bossa and samba music as well as Brazilian rock, funk and jazz. Nossas Novas is a Brazilian Bossa Nova and Samba Jazz band based in Austin, Texas.

The Family Stage featured kid friendly performances, while the other stages hosted local musicians performing. Admission Is Free Friday, June 10 7:30pm Doors 7:00pm. Friday Night Cactus Eventsįriday events kicked off at 6pm and ran until 9 or 9:30pm. This popular parade is well attended and front row seats fill up early. The parade includes 11 bands and many community groups. Normally, Marchers gather at 6:45pm in the Dundas Driving Park and march to King Street W in Downtown Dundas by 7pm. Unfortunately the 2017 Parade was rained out. The 2017 Festival was a great success and we’re looking forward to next year! The Cactus Parade Kicks off the Festival on Thursday Evening The “Cactus Festival” was named after the local cactus greenhouses of Ben Veldhuis (which are sadly gone). In addition to music, extreme sports and performing dogs, there was a midway, food, and artist/craft vendors all 3 days. The Family Fun Stage featured performing dogs, and extreme bike and skateboarding demos. With 4 performance stages, there was music for every fan. In 2017, the “Dundas Cactus Festival” was celebrated August 17,18,19 and 20. Hail Shrek! Wash Your Brain.The Dundas Cactus Festival is a 42 Year Tradition! And now, a year after its deliverance, the salad trio have set out to bring you the good word contained within. On gear borrowed from their newfound label mates, Thyroids returned to their self-produced roots with the inception of what would become Gelatinous Happiness a 13 minute and 41 second blazer designed with only their own listening pleasure in mind.
Shows were played, eyebrows were raised, and Dallas based BarfWave Records reached out to the group to begin the production of Compact Discs. Who could forget? And furthermore, who could focus on a lively music career? But as anyone must at least try to, they rebuilt and reinvigorated. Not to mention the war waged on the good folk of the surface by the horrid subterranean reptilian-people on the 20th of January at 11am Central Standard Time. Upon their return, ensuing bouts of heart-breaking, street-sleeping, and job-working left Thyroids beaten and battered. The 2016 Heat Tour included a stint of Midwest and East Coast presentations that invoked the good, the bad, and the hideous. Having simmered in a broth of Southern Hospitality, self-loathing and chicken bones, Thyroids were ready to be plated and shoved through the expo window of the rest of the U.S. Soon after, word of this cultural pseudo-phenomenon reached the upper echelons of the Dream Life Record Syndicate, who extended a generous and welcoming hand to the band.
Post-apple-pipe smoke sesh, groundwork began for the fizzy and blown-out 5 song EP Gnarlands, an homage to their gnarly proving grounds.
